Plus Size Accessories

A chic lady smirks at the thought of a world without accessories.

A lot of women who are obviously fashion- sensitive are quick to say that they can not live without accessories, or will never leave the house without her gem-

encrusted handbag and a matching festooned belt on - oh, the chunky necklace and clanging bangles, too.

Pardon the little exaggeration there. This all leads to our suggestion of the essential plus size accessories and some pointers on why you need them, for the life of it:

* Leggings – Yes, we consider plus-sized leggings as an accessory, and a handy one at that. Leggings do not quite make a good alternative for pants, wrong ever. Instead, leggings look nice under a shorter skirt or matched with a long sweater dress.

Leggings and a long tunic also make a great pair. Notwithstanding our insistence that leggings belong to plus size accessories, please do not wear them every time, every day you leave the house.

* Handbag – Do not take too lightly what a handbag can do. Make that one ‘an appropriately sized handbag’ because a miniature handbag can make you look stouter that you already are.

Scale is everything, so before picking a handbag, be sure that its dimension is proportion to your size. Petite bags or overly sized totes are not for you. Those round arms would also need a handbag with ample, sturdy straps for good.

Black is timeless but you get out of the bore pit sometimes by choosing colors that screams or hues that contrasts your outfit.

* Belts – Accent belts and plus size accessories for the waist are all the rage now in fashion. We like them belts elastic and not too tight.

The waist area is typically the smallest part of a plus-sized woman’s body so wearing a belt would be an excellent opportunity to highlight the curve. However, a belt can look ridiculous on a pear-shaped body.

* Jewelry – Scale, or coverage, also applies to any plus-sized lady’s choices for jewelry pieces. Dainty jewelry won’t make the cut. Go for the chunky or the thickset jewelry.

A thin bracelet on your stout wrist or a tiny ring on your fleshy finger does not make any sense as far as visual effect is concerned. And big jewelry absolutely cuts the mark of those stunning plus size accessories anyway, so have some dangling earrings, too - in drops of chunks.
