Having tubby built or a round shape does not hinder one from wearing plus size skirts. Skirt is an unpretentious
piece of clothing which is a staple in every slim or chubby woman’s closet.
What a little black dress is to cocktail
wear, a simple, classic black skirt is basic for casual dressing. The foundation of great wardrobe ensembles could
very well be the modest skirt.
But as much as the skirt is an easy wear it is also an outfit that is not given much thought of.
A skirt that is a tad too
short or awkwardly long, ill-fitting or boxy can make the wearer look ridiculous.
Never mind if she has the best
tops, a bad skirt can pull down the whole number as “tasteless.”
Not to skirt on the issue, calling all plus-sized women out there to heed our good advice on what to choose and
how to wear their plus size skirts:
Figure it out - Find the right fit for your kind of figure. Your large skirt should fit your large lower torso
properly. Make sure that with that skirt on, you can still afford to sit straight, bend a little and not
constrained to sway those hips. Because you want to make sure that the skirt highlights your form, check
if the fit is creating tight squash effect your buttocks making them look flat.
The bottom line is: never too tight and never too loose. Else, you may opt to pick plus size skirts designed
with slit on the back or on one side so you won’t have issues with walking and swaying.
Color it up – If there is one color of skirt to own, make it black; better yet make it a black pencil skirt. From
down there it can get better if you match it with a figure-hugging shirt or blouse in vibrant color.
You can
never go wrong matching a black skirt with yellow or red top. A button up blouse in subdued earth tones
or neutral hues will work just as fine for a more polished, understated look. You can glam it up too with
something shiny for a top or an embellished trendy blouse on.
Suit them well – Your plus size skirts need some complementary piece of clothing to pull off an
ensemble of a suit. A short, cropped plus-sized jacket easily comes to mind. Complete the power look
with silk black stockings and a pair of glossy pumps.
